Levon is a generous Giant. He performed at the first annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest in 2002; he came for not much more than expenses to help get the festival off to a big bang. He was getting over throat cancer at the time, so he couldn't sing much but played with his usual energy. The Cate Brothers backed him up. We showed End of the Line and two documentaries Levon was in as well. Most of the folks from the Helena area that he came from attended to see their Favorite Son. It was a proud day for Batesville, Arkansas. I have some photos from that day that I will always cherish. I'm sure I'll run into him "Up on Cripple Creek"in the next life. Peace be with him.
